Advice to Hadhrat Abu Dharr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)
Hadhrat Abu Dharr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) says, “My friend, The Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) advised me to adhere to the following good actions. He (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) advised that I should not look at those who have been favoured more than me. Rather, I should look at those who are less fortunate. He (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) advised that I love the poor and remain close to them, and that I maintain family ties even though they do not maintain it”.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Khubayb (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that once there was some rain and it became very dark. We waited for Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) to lead us in salaah. Shortly thereafter, Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) came out to perform salaah and said, “Say!”. I enquired, “What should I say O Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)?” Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Qul huwallahu ahad, Surah Falaq and Surah Naas thrice every morning and evening. It (these Surahs) will protect you from everything” ( the evil of jinn, sihr [black magic] and other calamities).

The Secret to a Comfortable Life
Hadhrat Anas (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever makes his purpose (of life) the seeking of the aakhirah, Allah Ta'ala will grant him contentment of heart, arrange all his affairs and the world will come to him in disgrace. And whoever makes the aim (of his life) amassing the world, Allah Ta'ala will make poverty hover above him (i.e. despite his wealth he will be constantly afraid of becoming poor), disarray his affairs and he will only get that (of the world) which was destined for him”.

Secure the Dua of the Angels
Hadhrat Abdullah ibn 'Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Keep these bodies (of yours) clean and Allah I will purify you. For indeed no person sleeps in the condition of purity (wudhu) but an angel spends the night under the same sheet with him. If at any part of the night he turns (changes his posture), the angel makes dua for him in the following words: O Allah! Forgive your servant for he went to sleep in the condition of purity”.
