If Only You Knew ...

Imagine the following scene. You have your hard earned capital to invest. You go for advice to an experienced person who is an expert in the field. The expert says to you: "If only you knew what profits you will earn if you invest in that business, you would put all your money into it." What will be your reaction? You would certainly rush to do so. Everyone naturally would heed the advice of an expert since we all want the maximum profits.

Despair?

"I can take no more." "I am totally frustrated." "I have lost hope." "Would there ever be an end to my problems?"

Such statements and cries of despair are heard almost daily. Due to many difficulties such as illness, financial problems, domestic disputes, family conflict, crime, disasters, etc., people sometimes slip into misery, hopelessness and depression. It is in such circumstances that a person often asks in utter desperation: "What must I do?"

Hazrath Luqman (A.S.), who was given the title of Hakeem (the Wise), used to work in an orchard. Once his master came to the orchard and asked for a cucumber. When the cucumber was brought, peeled and sliced, the master gave the first piece to Hazrath Luqman (A. S.) to eat. He placed it in his mouth and began eating it with great relish. When the master observed the degree of relish with which Hazrath Luqman (A.S.) ate the cucumber, he assumed that it must be very tasty. Hence he also put a piece into his mouth.

Would a Muslim participate in any Jewish religious occasion? Would he join the Christians or people of any other faith in a religious ceremony? The obvious answer is “no” since this would compromise one’s faith and belief. One cannot compromise faith, otherwise one will eventually have no faith at all. Indeed on a humanitarian level one must treat every human being with dignity, kindness and compassion, but without transgressing the boundaries of Imaan..

A bedouin once came to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and said: “I wish to ask something.” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) permitted him to put forward his question. He then asked many questions which Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) answered. Some of the questions he asked were:
