An `aalim had come to Shaikh Saadiq Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayhi and requested him to accept him for bay`at. The shaikh asked him to read: Laa Ilaaha Illallahu Saadiqu Rasulullah. He refused to read it. The Shaikh told him, “Go away. Why did you come? Wasn’t Nabi’s Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam name Saadiq? It definitely was. And you not aware that at times the khabar (object) is brought before the mubtada (subject). So Saadiq was Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. Why didn’t you think of this initially?” The `aalim said, “I will now read it. Could you please accept me for bay`at?” The Shaikh replied, “The time has now passed.” He had not accepted him for bay`at. A Persian couplet reads: If the shaikh asks you to soak the musallah in wine then do so.. Why didn’t you think of this initially?” The `aalim said, “I will now read it. Could you please accept me for bay`at?” The Shaikh replied, “The time has now passed.” He had not accepted him for bay`at. A Persian couplet reads: If the shaikh asks you to soak the musallah in wine then do so.
