Question: In Arabic, an alif only appears at the end of a verb in the masculine plural tense, but why is it that in the verse: وماكنت تتلوا من قبله an alif appears at the end of the word تتلوا despite it being in the singular tense?
Answer: :This is entirely correct because it is said:
الخطان لايقاسان خط العروض وخط القران No logic applies in two khatts. One is khatt-ul-urood and the other is khatt-ul-Qur'an (the script of the Qur'an.)
