{"id":11930,"date":"2015-11-16T05:27:26","date_gmt":"2015-11-16T05:27:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alhaadi.org.za\/new\/?p=11930"},"modified":"2018-02-05T05:06:05","modified_gmt":"2018-02-05T05:06:05","slug":"from-where-to-where","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alhaadi.org.za\/?p=11930","title":{"rendered":"From Where to Where"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A person who was taken aback by the honour given to Luqman (alaihis salaam) once approached him and asked: \u201cAre you the very same Luqman who was a slave of the Banu Has-haas tribe?\u201d Luqman (alaihis salaam) replied: \u201cYes!\u201d The man then asked: \u201cAre you the very same person who used to herd sheep?\u201d Luqman (alalais salaam) replied: \u201cYes!\u201d The person asked yet again: \u201cAre you the very same person with a dark complexion?\u201d Luqman (alaihis salaam) replied: \u201cMy dark complexion is quite visible and clear to one and all, but what is it that really astonishes you regarding me?\u201d The man replied: \u201cI am astonished that people flock to your gathering and eagerly accept your advice.\u201d Luqman (alaihis salaam) then advised him saying: \u201cYoung man! You can also receive this very same rank and honour provided you adhere to the following aspects:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1. Lower your gaze<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. Control your tongue<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">3. Eat that which is pure and halaal<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">4. Guard your private parts<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">5. Adhere to the truth<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">6. Fulfill your trusts<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">7. Honour your guests<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">8. Take care of your neighbours<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">9. Stay away from what does not concern you<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These are the qualities that elevated me to the position that you see me enjoying.\u201d (Tafseer Ibnu Katheer vol 3 pg 459)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Lesson:<\/strong> The above incident highlights the fact that one does not become honourable and respectable on the basis of his lineage or skin colour.
