{"id":11979,"date":"2015-11-17T04:42:16","date_gmt":"2015-11-17T04:42:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alhaadi.org.za\/new\/?p=11979"},"modified":"2016-10-25T05:38:23","modified_gmt":"2016-10-25T05:38:23","slug":"beautiful-outcome-of-honesty-and-taqwa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alhaadi.org.za\/?p=11979","title":{"rendered":"Beautiful outcome of Honesty and Taqwa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once, \u2018Abdullah bin \u2018Umar (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma) was on a journey, accompanied by his pupils and disciples. When they stopped for meals, a shepherd passed by with his herd of goats and greeted them by saying: \u201cAssalaamu \u2018alaikum\u201d. Ibnu \u2018Umar (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma) invited him to join them, but he said that he was fasting. At this, Ibnu \u2018Umar (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma) said: \u201cYou are fasting in a shadeless desert, on such a hot day when a hot wind is blowing!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The shepherd replied: \u201cI want to receive my rewards for the past days (al-ayyaamul khaaliyah).\u201d He was referring to the following verse of the Quraan Majeed:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"RTL\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span dir=\"RTL\">\u0643\u064f\u0644\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u0648\u064e\u0627\u0634\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0628\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u0647\u064e\u0646\u0650\u064a\u0626\u064b\u0627 \u0628\u0650\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0623\u064e\u0633\u0652\u0644\u064e\u0641\u0652\u062a\u064f\u0645\u0652 \u0641\u0650\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0623\u064e\u064a\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0645\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u062e\u064e\u0627\u0644\u0650\u064a\u064e\u0629\u0650<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>(It will be said to those in Jannah) \u201cEat and drink at ease for that which you sent on before \u2018in the past days\u2019.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ibnu \u2018Umar (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma) then said to him, by way of trial: \u201cWe want to buy a goat; name a price and we shall pay it. We shall then slaughter the goat and give you some of its meat to serve you for iftaar (breaking the fast).\u201d The shepherd said: \u201cThese goats are not mine; I am but a slave and the goats belong to my master.\u201d Ibnu \u2018Umar (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma) said: \u201cHow will your master know? You can tell him that a wolf devoured a goat.\u201d At this, the shepherd turned away saying: \u201cWhat about Allah? (Who is watching us at all times? How could I deceive Him and say that a wolf had devoured a goat?).\u201d Ibnu \u2018Umar (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma) was delighted with these words from a simple shepherd and he began to say to himself, again and again (in an ecstasy of joy): \u201cA simple shepherd says: \u2018What about Allah (who is watching us at all times)?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When Ibnu \u2018Umar (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma) came back to Madeenah Munawwarah after the journey, he bought the slave from the master, together with the herd of goats, emancipated him and bestowed the herd upon him as a gift. (Shu\u2018abul Imaan #4908).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Lesson:<\/strong> Such was the honesty and Allah consciousness of the simple shepherds of the past. As we draw closer to the final hour, these two qualities are leaving us very rapidly, resulting in most of the vices and complications we are experiencing presently.
