{"id":12039,"date":"2015-11-17T04:59:32","date_gmt":"2015-11-17T04:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alhaadi.org.za\/new\/?p=12039"},"modified":"2025-01-01T06:13:48","modified_gmt":"2025-01-01T04:13:48","slug":"the-iron-fortress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alhaadi.org.za\/?p=12039","title":{"rendered":"The Iron Fortress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Muhammad bin Seereen (rahimahullah), a famous narrator of hadeeth and student of the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum), was once travelling with a group of people when they decided to encamp for the night at a riverbank. As they were setting up camp, the people of the area approached them and advised them saying, \u201cGo further on. Every person who attempts to camp here gets robbed.\u201d On hearing this, the entire group packed up and departed to camp elsewhere \u2013 with the exception of Muhammad bin Seereen (rahimahullah). He stayed behind, alone and fearless, trusting in the security provided by the aayaat of protection he recited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Muhammad bin Seereen (rahimahullah) then narrates the events that ensued. He says:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI had not yet fallen asleep when I actually saw the robbers. They were wielding drawn swords. They tried to come near me more than thirty times but were unable to draw near. Knowing that I was safe, I slept soundly until the morning. When it was morning, I packed up and departed, continuing my journey. As I travelled, I suddenly encountered one of the robbers who was carrying a bow and seated astride a horse with a huge, bushy tail. He called out to me and asked, \u201cAre you a human or jinn?\u201d \u201cA human \u2013 from the descendants of Aadam (\u2018alaihis salaam)\u201d I replied. He was stunned to hear this and asked, \u201cBut what\u2019s your secret then? We tried to get to you more than 70 times but were blocked by an iron wall every time!\u201d I replied, \u201cThe secret is a hadeeth which Ibnu \u2018Umar (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma) narrated to me from Nabi (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) who said, \u2018Whoever recites thirty-three verses of the Quraan Majeed at night, he will not be harmed by an unexpected predatory animal and, together with his family and wealth, he will be in complete safety and ease until the morning.\u2019\u201d When I completed narrating the hadeeth, he was so affected that he descended from his horse and broke his bow, promising Allah Ta\u2018ala that he would never again return to a life of robbery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The verses mentioned in the hadeeth are:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1. Surah Baqarah (verses 1-5, 255-257, and 284-286)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. Surah Aa\u2019raaf (verses 54-56)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">3. Surah Banu Israaeel (verses 110-111)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">4. Surah Saaffaat (verses 1-11)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">5. Surah Rahmaan (verses 33-35)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">6. Surah Hashr (verses 21-24)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">7. Surah Jinn (verses 3-4)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">(Zaylu Taarikhi Baghdaad &#8211; Ibnun Najjaar vol. 3, pg. 171)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Lessons:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1. These verses \u2013 together with other established verses of protection \u2013 are contained in the \u201cmanzil\u201d and by reciting these verses every night, we too can ensure that we are completely protected and safeguarded together with our families and belongings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. The level of Muhammad bin Seereen (rahimahullah)\u2019s conviction in the protection afforded by these verses was such that he was prepared to spend the night alone in a place that was known to be frequented by robbers. This level of conviction is what is required to make our du\u2018aas and other actions produce the desired results.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">3.
