{"id":12332,"date":"2015-11-30T04:56:33","date_gmt":"2015-11-30T04:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alhaadi.org.za\/new\/?p=12332"},"modified":"2015-11-30T04:56:33","modified_gmt":"2015-11-30T04:56:33","slug":"avoiding-areas-of-celebrations-and-festivities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alhaadi.org.za\/?p=12332","title":{"rendered":"Avoiding Areas of Celebrations and Festivities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Urs<\/em> celebrations used to be held by some people in Gangoh at the\u00a0<em>Khanqah<\/em> of Hadhrat Sheikh Abdul Quddoos Gangohi\u00a0<em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em> (long after his demise). Later on, this\u00a0<em>Khanqah<\/em> became the residence of Moulana Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi <em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em>. However, during the three days of\u00a0<em>Urs<\/em>, Hadhrat used to leave the Khanqah and depart from Gangoh. He used to grant leave to his students and\u00a0<em>mureeds<\/em> as well, saying: \u201cBrothers, go away for three days.\u201d They would only return when the\u00a0<em>Urs<\/em> was over.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was the practice of Sheikh-ul-Hind Hadhrat Moulana Mahmood Hasan Deobandi <em><\/em><em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em>\u00a0that after teaching the sixth period on Thursdays, he would usually travel from Deoband to Gangoh to visit Hadhrat Gangohi<em><\/em><em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em>. Once, Hadhrat Shaikh-ul-Hind\u00a0<em><\/em><em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh&#8217;s)<\/em>\u00a0friend who was close to him during their student days and had later on become a government employee asked, \u201cO Mahmood, tell me, what is there in Gangoh that makes you go there every Thursday?\u201d Hadhrat replied, \u201cO ignorant one! You haven\u2019t tasted anything. Come with me.\u201d He agreed to go along. Coincidentally the day that he accompanied Hadhrat to Gangoh turned out to be one of the days of\u00a0<em>Urs<\/em> at the Mazaar of Shah Abdul Quddoos Gangohi <em><\/em><em><\/em><em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Initially, Imaam-e-Rabbani, Hadhrat Gangohi <em><\/em><em><\/em><em><\/em><em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em>\u00a0used to leave Gangoh completely for the duration of these days but when he became blind he stopped travelling. However, he would not come to the\u00a0<em>Khanqah<\/em> on these days. Yes, he used to come for all the Salaahs and lead the congregation himself. The organizers of the\u00a0<em>Urs<\/em>were considerate to stop their\u00a0<em>qawwaali<\/em> from the time of\u00a0<em>azaan<\/em> until the\u00a0<em>musallees\u00a0<\/em>had completed their\u00a0<em>sunnats<\/em>, etc., after\u00a0<em>namaaz<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hadhrat would not allow anyone to visit him during the days of\u00a0<em>Urs<\/em>. He would not even shake hands with anyone. Hadhrat Shaikh-ul-Hind <em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em>\u00a0reached Gangoh at night and proceeded directly to Hadhrat\u2019s house. As soon as Hadhrat saw him, he began reprimanding him. He also instructed him to return to Deoband immediately. Another friend of Shaikh-ul-Hind <em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em>, Shah Mazhar Husain Sahib Gangohi <em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em>, was also present. (He was the brother of Moulana Fakhr-ul-Hasan Sahib Gangohi\u00a0<em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em>, who had written marginal notes on Abu Dawood.) He spoke up and said, \u201cHadhrat, they haven\u2019t come to attend the\u00a0<em>Urs<\/em>. They have come to you.\u201d Hadhrat replied, \u201cI also know that they haven\u2019t come to attend the\u00a0<em>Urs<\/em>. Even I am not so gullible. They have come to me, but they have passed through the crowd attending the\u00a0<em>Urs<\/em>. Thus, they have increased their numbers. And the Hadeeth says: \u2018Whoever increases the number of any group of people, he is from them.\u2019 On the Day of Qiyaamah, he may try to absolve himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thereafter, Shah Mazhar Husain Sahib took them home and said, \u201cAt least eat something before you leave.\u201d Hadhrat Shaikh-ul-Hind <em>(Rahmatullahi Alayh)<\/em>\u00a0broke into tears and said, \u201cHadhrat instructed me to leave immediately.
