On one occasion a Bedouin came to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and accepted Islam. He then expressed his desire to remain with Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), due to which Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) instructed some of the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) to look after him and make arrangements for him.<\/p>\n
After some time had passed, the Muslims fought a battle against the disbelievers and were victorious, gaining booty in the process. When Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) distributed the booty among the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum), he also set aside a share for this Bedouin Sahaabi (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu). However, on account of this Bedouin Sahaabi (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) attending to the animals of the other Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum), he was away at the time of the distribution. Hence, the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) gave him his allotted share on his return.<\/p>\n
On seeing his share of the booty, he asked, \u201cWhat is this?\u201d The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) replied, \u201cA share (of the booty) which Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) allotted for you.\u201d Hearing this, he took the share and proceeded to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). When he came before Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), he asked, \u201cWhat is this?\u201d Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) replied, \u201cI allotted this share for you.\u201d The Bedouin Sahaabi (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) responded, \u201cI did not follow you and accept Islam for this wealth.\u201d He then gestured towards his throat and said, \u201cI followed you so that I could be struck here by an arrow and pass away (as a martyr), gaining entry into Paradise.\u201d When Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) heard this, he said, \u201cIf you are true to Allah Ta\u2018ala, Allah Ta\u2018ala will be true to you (in fulfilling your desire and rewarding you).\u201d<\/p>\n
Not too long thereafter, the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) again engaged the disbelievers in battle. After the battle, the body of the Bedouin Sahaabi (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) was carried to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). Seeing that an arrow had struck his throat on the exact area to which he had gestured, thereby causing his martyrdom, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) asked, \u201cIs this the same Sahaabi (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu)?\u201d\u00a0 When the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) confirmed that he was the same Bedouin Sahaabi (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) said, \u201cHe was true to Allah Ta\u2018ala, and so Allah Ta\u2018ala was true to him (by blessing him with the martyrdom which he desired).\u201d<\/p>\n
Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) then covered him in his own blessed jubbah and performed his janaazah salaah. While making du\u2018aa for this Sahaabi (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) said the following, \u201cO Allah! This is your slave who performed hijrah in your path and was then killed as a martyr. I bear witness to this!\u201d (Sunan Nasai #1955)<\/p>\n
Lesson:<\/strong><\/p>\n Every Muslim claims to love Allah Ta\u2018ala and His Rasul (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). However, how true are we in our claim? If we truly mean what we say, we will follow the commands of Allah Ta\u2018ala and adhere to the blessed sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). When we do so, Allah Ta\u2018ala will answer our du\u2018aas and bless us with the rewards that he has promised us. On the contrary, if we fail to be true to Allah Ta\u2018ala by neglecting Deen and the blessed sunnah, how can we expect to receive the divine assistance of Allah Ta\u2018ala?<\/p>\n
