(Four Surahs\u2019 Series \u2013 Part Four)<\/em><\/p>\n

Surah Waaqi\u2018ah is the 56th<\/sup>\u00a0surah of the Quraan Majeed and can be found in the 27th<\/sup>\u00a0juz (para), immediately after Surah Rahmaan.<\/p>\n

The special virtue and benefit of Surah Waaqi\u2018ah is that the one who recites it every night will be saved from poverty.\u00a0(Shu\u2018abul Imaan #2267)<\/em><\/p>\n

On the occasion when Sayyiduna \u2018Abdullah bin Mas\u2018ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) lay on his deathbed and was approaching his final moments, Sayyiduna \u2018Uthmaan (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), who was the khaleefah at the time, came to visit him.<\/p>\n

During the visit, Sayyiduna \u2018Uthmaan (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) asked him, \u201cShould I not instruct for you to be given an allowance?\u201d Sayyiduna \u2018Abdullah bin Mas\u2018ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) replied, \u201cI have no need for it.\u201d Sayyiduna \u2018Uthmaan (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) responded,\u00a0\u201cThe allowance will be for your daughters (after your demise).\u201d\u00a0To this, Sayyiduna \u2018Abdullah bin Mas\u2018ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) answered,\u00a0\u201cDo you fear that my daughters will fall into poverty? (You should not have this fear as) I have instructed my daughters to recite Surah Waaqi\u2018ah every night.\u00a0Indeed I heard Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) mention, \u2018The person who recites Surah Waaqi\u2018ah every night, poverty will never afflict him.\u2019\u201d\u00a0(Usdul Ghaabah vol. 3, pg. 77)<\/em><\/p>\n

One of the most common fears which people face is that of poverty. If they do not have this fear for themselves, then they have it for their children and progeny after them \u2013 especially their daughters, granddaughters, etc.\u00a0In this regard, the commonly encountered mindset is,\u00a0\u201cWhat if she is divorced? Or widowed? Or her husband cannot support her?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0To allay this fear of poverty, which is merely a distant possibility, it has now become a trend for parents to send their young daughters to universities, and subsequently into the corporate environment, so that they have a career \u2018to fall back on\u2019. It is as if we are saying \u2013\u00a0Allah Ta\u2018ala forbid!<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 that\u00a0if we do not send our daughters into these sin-filled environments, Allah Ta\u2018ala will not give them their sustenance later on in life!\u00a0The tragic reality is that many have fallen backwards in these sin-filled environments \u2013 backwards in their imaan, respect, chastity, etc.\u00a0May Allah Ta\u2018ala protect us all, aameen.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The problem is not one of understanding \u2013 it is one of imaan. Sayyiduna \u2018Abdullah bin Mas\u2018ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) had firm imaan that Allah Ta\u2018ala alone provides sustenance.\u00a0Hence, he knew that the best \u2018investment\u2019 that he could leave for his daughters, securing their financial future, was Surah Waaqi\u2018ah.\u00a0Such was his imaan that he even turned down the allowance of the khaleefah!<\/p>\n

Let us all \u2018invest\u2019 in Surah Waaqi\u2018ah by reciting this surah, which comprises of just 5 pages, every single night, together with Surahs Yaseen, Mulk and Sajdah. Insha-Allah, the returns on this investment will be enjoyed in this world and the next. However, it is obvious that to attain the benefit of these recitations, one must also fulfil all the obligations of Deen and refrain from sin.<\/p>\n

May Allah Ta\u2018ala grant us the steadfastness to remain punctual on the recitation of these four surahs every night until we pass away, aameen.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
