On one occasion, during the season of summer, the gardener of Sayyiduna Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) came to him and complained that the orchard was in need of water (as they had not experienced rainfall for some time).
On hearing the concern of the gardener, Sayyiduna Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) asked for some water, made wudhu and then performed salaah and made du‘aa to Allah Ta‘ala (for rain). He then asked the gardener, “Can you see anything (i.e. rain)?” The gardener replied, “No, I cannot see anything.”
Sayyiduna Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) then continued to performed more salaah, until finally, when he completed the third or fourth set of salaahs, he said to the gardener, “(Go and) look.” The gardener now said, “I can see a few clouds resembling the wing of a bird.”
Hearing this, Sayyiduna Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) re-engaged in salaah and continued to make du‘aa, until finally, the caretaker of the orchard came to him and said, “The sky is filled with clouds and it is raining.”
Sayyiduna Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) instructed him saying, “Mount the horse which was sent by Bishr bin Shaghaaf and go to see how far the rain has reached.” The caretaker mounted the horse, rode out, and found that the rain had not reached further than the fortresses of Musayyareen and the fortress of Ghadbaan (places that were close by. i.e. Allah Ta‘ala had accepted the du‘aa of Sayyiduna Anas [radhiyallahu ‘anhu] and had sent this rain specifically for his orchard).

Lesson:
The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) understood that the answer to every problem is to perform salaah and turn to Allah Ta‘ala in du‘aa. Furthermore, they did not make du‘aa once or twice and then stop. Rather, they continued to beg Allah Ta‘ala until their du‘aa was answered.
