Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Ilyaas (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) once mentioned the following:
People have forgotten the work and responsibility which Allah Ta‘ala has placed upon them, and they have begun to think that their responsibility is to make people accept Deen. However, this is incorrect, (as making people accept Deen is the work of Allah Ta‘ala). Our responsibility is only to make a good effort for people to come onto Deen. As for making people accept the message, then this was not even made the work and responsibility of the Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam).
Nevertheless, if people do not accept our message, then we should take lesson from this. We should think to ourselves that it is perhaps on account of some weakness and deficiency in our effort, and due to us not fulfilling the work as it should have been fulfilled, that Allah Ta‘ala has not shown us the desired result that we wish to see. Thereafter, we should make a firm resolve to increase and improve our effort, to make more du‘aa to Allah Ta‘ala and beg Him to grant us the taufeeq of doing the work correctly.
