A Brief Profile of Hadrat Mufti Ebrahim Salejee Saheb
Birth: Born in South Africa in 1956.
Hadhrat Mufti Saheb studied Hifz and five years of the Alim course at the Waterval Islamic Institute under the great saint Hafiz Abdur Rahman Mia (Rahmatullahi Alayh) and other competent scholars such as Mufti Ebrahim Sanjalvi (Rahmatullahi Alayh).
After completing Mishkaat Shareef, Hadhrat Mufti Saheb took admission into Darul Ulum Deoband, India, where he completed the Mishkaat and Dawra Hadith levels under great scholars like Hadhrat Qari Muhammad Tayyib Saheb (Rahmatullahi Alayh), Hadhrat Mufti Mahmood Hasan Saheb (Rahmatullahi Alayh), Mawlana Anzar Shah Kashmiri (Rahmatullahi Alayh), (the son of Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri (Rahmatullahi Alayh)) and many others.
Upon completion, Hadhrat spent a considerable amount of time (approximately 9 months) with his Sheikh, Hadhrat Moulana Maseehullah Khan Saheb (Rahmatullahi Alayh), of Jalalabad, the khalifa of Hadhrat Moulana Thaanwi (Rahmatullahi Alayh) and held a formal relationship of Islaah with him until the demise of Hadhratji in 1992.
Hadhrat Mufti Saheb completed the Ifta course under the supervision of the Grand-Mufti of India Hadhrat Mufti Mahmood Hasan Saheb Gangohi (Rahmatullahi Alayh).
After graduating as a Mufti, he returned to South Africa and began teaching Hifz and a few elementary kitabs from his house in Isipingo Beach. A few years later the madrasah moved to a private house which was situated where the Madrasa Hifz hall is today.
As the number of students increased, a building was erected and later the house was demolished and a complete structure for a Darul Ulum was built. Subsequent to this many extensions were carried out.
Hadhrat Mufti Saheb received khilafat from both Hadhratji Maulana Maseehullah (Rahmatullahi Alayh) and Hadhrat Mufti Mahmood Hasan Saheb (Rahmatullahi Alayh) both belonging to the Chisti Silsila of Tasawwuf.
Hadhrat Mufti Saheb has since been involved in making the Islaah of many people who have initiated a link with him. For this purpose an Islaahi Majlis is held four times a week after Asr at the Madrasa Masjid. During the month of Ramadan an I’tikaaf program for the entire duration of the month is held.
Besides Islaahi efforts and other administrative duties Hadhrat Mufti Saheb personally teaches the famous Book of Hadith Jamius Saheeh famously known as Bukhaari Shareef and Sunan Abu Dawud.
Hadhrat Mufti Saheb has also spearheaded many other projects in various areas. Of particular significance is the Maktab project of the Jamiatul Ulama (KZN) that presently has under its wing over 100 makaatib in rural and residential areas.
We make du’a that Allah Ta’ala grant Hadhrat Mufti Saheb long life and good health so that the Ummat continues to derive benefit from his blessed presence
