Hazrat Shaikh Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) mentioned:
In order for one to fulfil the dictates of respect in regard to the Quraan Majeed, one should keep in mind that the Quraan Majeed is the speech of our Creator, and the word of the One Whom we love and seek His pleasure.
Those who have experienced love will know the value that the speech and writings of the beloved hold in the eyes of the beholder. The person whose heart has not experienced the ecstasy of love, what will he know of love? The delight and joy caused by such communication is beyond all rules and laws of teaching love because, as it is said:
محبت تجھ کو آداب محبت خود سکھا دے گی
“Love itself will teach one the rules of conduct in love.”
While reading the Quraan Majeed, if we try to imagine the true beauty of the Beloved and His unlimited favours and bounties upon us, the flames of love will continue to rise within our hearts.
In addition, we should remember that the Quraan Majeed is the Word of the Master of all masters and the commands of the King of all kings. It is the law set out by the most powerful King Who remains unequalled forever. Those who have served at the courts of kings know by experience, while others can only imagine the extreme awe inspired by the king’s orders.
The Quraan Majeed is the word of our Beloved Rabb who is also the Supreme King. We should therefore read the Quraan Majeed with the feelings of love and awe.
Whenever Hazrat Ikrimah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) opened the Quraan Majeed, he would become unconscious and fall down. He would then say:
هَذَا كَلَامُ رَبِّي هَذَا كَلَامُ رَبِّي
“This is the Word of my Allah! This is the Word of my Allah!”
