Hazrat Moulana Inaamul Hasan Kaandhelwi (rahimahullah) once mentioned the following:
Just as collective Deeni efforts are important and have to be carried out, similarly each person should also be concerned about his individual ‘ibaadaat and ma’moolaat – especially taking out time daily to make zikr and du‘aa. To the extent that we follow the laws of Allah Ta‘ala and the mubaarak sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) – to that extent will Allah Ta‘ala bestow us with barakah (special blessings) and His divine assistance.
It is through us being punctual upon our individual ‘ibaadaat and ma’moolaat that barakah will come into our Deeni efforts. Barakah is in the sole control of Allah Ta‘ala, but it is through carrying out good deeds that one will acquire barakah in everything. During the day, one should strive in carrying out collective Deeni efforts, and during the night, one should engage in his individual ‘ibaadaat and ma’moolaat, together with begging Allah Ta‘ala in du‘aa.
The more one strives in Deeni efforts, the more one will find progress in his individual ‘ibaadaat and ma’moolaat, and similarly the more importance that one shows to his individual ‘ibaadaat and ma’moolaat, the more barakah one will acquire in his Deeni efforts which he carries out in the Ummah. If a person neglects and falls short in his individual ‘ibaadaat and ma’moolaat, then he will find that his Deeni efforts will not have any life.
Remember that it is through one striving in carrying out Deeni efforts in the Ummah that one will gain progress in one’s individual ‘ibaadaat, and it is through engaging in one’s individual ‘ibaadaat and ma’moolaat that one will find life coming into one’s Deeni efforts which he carries out in the Ummah.
