Once Moulana Maseehullah Khan (Rahmatullahi Alayh) was informed that his son Safiyullah was involved in a fight with another student by the name of Rasheed Ahmad. Rasheed Ahmad narrates that it was midday during the summer period whilst I was resting that I heard a knock on the door. I opened the door and to my amazement I see my principal Hazrat Moulana standing in front of me. In his polite tone, he mentioned to me that “I was informed that my son Safiyullah had fought with you. Hence I have come to you solely to apologise on his behalf.” I told him that no such fight had taken place and that we are close friends. Someone may have passed on wrong information regarding him. However, despite explaining this to him, he continued asking me to pardon him.

Lesson: An important principle in Deen is never to inconvenience anyone at anytime. If one has erred and caused any inconvenience one should immediately apologise and seek the person’s pardon. Doing so does not decrease one’s honour and respect. Rather it increases it.
