Hazrat Shaikh Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya (rahmatullahi ‘alaihi) said: “It is imperative that one shows paramount importance to one’s zikr and daily practices. I had witnessed Moulana Husain Ahmad Madani (rahmatullahi ‘alaihi) and my beloved uncle (Moulana Ilyas Khandelwi) punctually carrying out their zikr despite their old age. Furthermore, I noticed my father and Moulana Husain Ahmad Madani (rahmatullahi ‘alaihi) being punctual upon their tahajjud in the early parts of the morning, sitting in isolation and crying bitterly beseeching Allah Ta’ala. They cried in the same way as a child in maktab cries when he is being reprimanded. (Malfoozaate Hazrat Shaikh 1/112)
