Clear water in the company of the tea bag turns black. Tap water in the company of the fridge turns cold. Normal water in the company of sugar turns sweet. Water, which is lifeless, undergoes a drastic change in its colour, taste and temperature. When it is in the company of the tea bag, fridge and sugar respectively – which are also all lifeless. The lifeless water could not resist the change in the COMPANY of other lifeless objects. Imagine then the effect that the true living beings – the Ahlullah (friends of Allah Ta’ala) will have on us? What a tremendous change it will be to the “colour” and outlook of our life, in our temperament and our tastes and choices in life.
The Sahaaba (Radiyallahu Anhum) became Sahaaba in the blessed company of our Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Even in this time and age if we wish to become the friends of Allah Ta’ala then we need to sit in the company of the friends of Allah Ta’ala, the Ulama and the pious elders.
