Comprehensive Advice

Hadhrat Abu Ayyoob Al-Ansaari
(radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that a person came to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and said, “Advise me but keep it brief.” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “(Firstly) When you stand up for salaah, offer it like a person who is about to leave this world. (Secondly) Do not say anything for which you may have to apologise (or regret) in the future. And (thirdly) totally despair from the possessions of people.” (i.e. Do not be desirous to get people’s possessions)
